a body

secretive and aching

stretching between sheets

pressed against steamed tile

slipping saliva across

flesh covered ribs

the garden

filled with light

but the garden is overgrown now

and the light doesn’t fall the way that it used to

it has been difficult to notice it

as the shift has been gradual

despite the abrupt nature of your leaving

you are no longer present here

and the house has been torn apart

overtaken with cobwebs

void and disrupt

i am in san diego visiting my mom’s house, old friends and collecting a few more videos for my installation. the opening is most likely going to be the 6th of april or so in the EDA gallery at UCLA. there will be more on that in a little while once things are near completion and more clear. also let’s all let out some deep breaths because it looks like emmy is stayin in the USA!!!!! more later on that as well. bossy and i are putting our minds together in a constructive way finally and are embarking on an exciting new project. i feel as if its really going to be extraordinarily beautiful. stay tuned.

it is february 3rd and it is 83 degrees in los angeles.

i am thankful for new friendships and rebuilding and reconstructing older ones. for the ocean, for queen, for sleep, for d’angelo, for jenny and for the body wrap from shoops, for tears and heartbreak, for the grieving process, for laundry days and for the enormous amount of possibility that exists in the future.

i feel as if time is moving ever so quickly and there is no sign of it slowing down coming any moment any time soon. i am striving to find mindfulness in every minute. its difficult. especially on days like today when i slept four hours last night. i am wrecked. in other news: nikole and i are driving to san francisco on thursday with queen for a little while. there is nothing like getting away from this city and escaping to such a mecca of utopian oblivion and then coming back to it. i carry the good back with me and it makes the mindfulness thing more effortless here.

she passed away one month ago today. but, lily is here. things always seem to look up when she is around. we drove downtown and gave the dogs baths at some silly fancy dog store. i bought them some blueberry shampoo. somehow, its easier to take care of myself now that i have them to look after as well.

we are smoking cigarettes in my bed. this place is starting to feel more like home and that feels ok.

things i am looking forward to:

sunday with jenny

new years in new york

painting the rest of my apartment

dinner parties in the yellow living room

enjoying the single lyfe

gratitude;

for d’angelo, jenny, amy k, lily rose, virg, barry, kaitlyn, sony, nima, dad, nikole, anna, robin, karen

for being given the gift of the ability to create and dream

for fantastic stories and novels

for my mother and for her unconditional love. for the 22 years we spent together. for teaching me how to love others selflessly. you will always rest within my heart.

sony and i are retreating here on sunday for five days. we’ll be running naked in the forest and swimming in the river as well as sleeping in a treehouse. i don’t think i am going to want to come back.
