Welcome to Emmyland! We're a boutique rental house based in Brockley, South East London specialising in bespoke wet and dry equipment hire to the motion picture film and tv industries. We specialise in camera, lens and grip hire.

Emmyland was founded by Focus Puller and Camera Technician Emily-Jane Robinson who has over 10 years experience working within the film and tv industry within the Camera Department. We are proud to be the first rental house in the United Kingdom with a female Founder and Managing Director.

Emmyland is a truly independent rental house, with its roots and heart being birthed from within the Camera Assisting community. We are run by ACs, for ACs, so that Cinematographers will only have the very best equipment to work with with us as suppliers. Our kits are built by experts, for experts. We aim to be the superior and most simple solution for production as we have been founded on the principles of only sending out and stocking immaculately prepped and perfectly performing equipment. You will never see an Emmyland label on set and find that there are bits and bobs missing or that things are not working properly. If you choose to hire from us, we can guarantee that you will only be working with the very best.

Emmyland shooting kits are in immaculate condition and are rigorously specified and maintained in house. We stock only the very best industry standard equipment: from Arri camera systems, Cooke, Zeiss and Arri lenses, to Ronford Baker grip equipment. All of our equipment comes prepped and ready to shoot with every imaginable accessory always included. By going above and beyond to make sure that we are only supplying the best and by building up our camera packages with all of the additional essential accessories, we can ensure that you can always rely on our gear and it is always ready for anything when it gets on to set or location.

All of the equipment listed on our website is Emmyland in-house kit. We are happy to provide a one stop shop for all the equipment you might need on a shoot, and can cross-hire anything else that you might need if it is not listed here on our website through our collaborators and dedicated cross-hire partners in the industry.

We invite you to come and visit us and test our equipment at our 1,200 sq ft Headquarters in Brockley, South East London. We pride ourselves by offering an exceptionally personalised service to all of our clients, no matter the budget or size of the production. We can also offer package deals and are happy to facilitate testing at our kit rooms and to answer any technical questions you might have.

Our founder Emily-Jane is always available to accompany our equipment on set and come on board as Focus Puller and 1st AC, and so is Max, our dedicated Director of Operations and 2nd AC / Loader. Emily-Jane and Max have been working together almost exclusively for 5 years and work most efficiently as a team. Sony Venice

(6K, RAW, High Framerate)


PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The Sony Venice is an absolute powerhouse of a camera, boasting a giant 6K sensor and high framerate, this camera is Sony’s challenger to the Mini LF in both power and versatility; paired with its one of a kind Rialto system, the camera becomes even more versatile with the ability to move around corners and be used as its own, handheld unit. Our Sony Venice includes a whole variety of the best accessories around to make sure this is the best Venice kit on the market, including a wooden camera D-box V-lock system, meaning you can attach any LBUS or lemo capable bit of kit to work with it. We also have an LPL adaptor meaning you can utilize the full-frame sensor to the max with our Arri signature lenses.

36 x 24-mm full-frame sensor for cinema

The Sony VENICE is equipped with a 36 x 24-mm full-frame image sensor designed specifically for high end cinematography, and can capture images up to a maximum resolution of 6048 x 4032. By switching imager modes, VENICE can natively support Super35 24.3 x 18.0 mm, 4096 x 3024 resolution (equivalent to 4-perforation motion picture film) and Super35 24.3 x 12.8 mm, 4096 x 2160 resolution (equivalent to 3-perforation motion picture film). In other words, VENICE’s new full-frame sensor can capture in almost any format, including full 18 mm-height Super35 anamorphic and spherical and full-frame 24 mm-height anamorphic and spherical. Almost any aspect ratio can be conjured up: 1.85:1, 2.39:1, 17:9, the list goes on in full-frame or Super35.

With VENICE, Sony is giving users the option to customize their camera by only enabling the features as needed, according to individual production requirements. Licenses are available to expand the camera’s capabilities, including 4K anamorphic and 6K full-frame.

High performance, proven recording formats

VENICE offers complete production flexibility. Internally, VENICE can support XAVC, ProRes, or MPEG HD recording onto an SxS memory card. Additionally, by using the AXS-R7 recorder, it can record 16-bit RAW or X-OCN (16-bit eXtended tonal range Original Camera Negative) onto AXS memory card.

XAVC

XAVC is the highest-performing implementation of H.264/AVC intra-frame coding. It supports 4K with superb efficiency and beautiful 10-bit pictures. Naturally, VENICE supports XAVC Class480, which is the highest bitrate and quality available.

Apple ProRes

Apple ProRes including ProRes 422 proxy formats are popular in postproduction and are supported by VENICE. This means there’s no need for transcoding; you can simply handle these formats directly from the camera.

RAW

This ultimate 16-bit linear RAW format preserves all the information captured in 4K, with 16 times more tonal values than 12-bit RAW.

Full 4K and 6K resolution, with extraordinary color reproduction, nicely suits Sony’s third generation color development, S-Gamut 3. In particular, 16-bit scene linear tonal gradation retains the camera’s full dynamic range, with far greater capacity for visual expression than 10-bit or 12-bit digital formats.

16-bit X-OCN offers significant file size reduction, which make working with full resolution content from VENICE’s 6K sensor far more practical in terms of file transfer times and storage requirements.

And X-OCN XT captures the highest quality imagery when using the AXS-R7 portable memory recorder. X-OCN XT is ideal for demanding visual effects work and productions requiring the utmost image quality from VENICE. The new X-OCN XT profile maintains economical file sizes comparable to Sony’s RAW file size, making the workflow affordable and efficient. In comparing X-OCN with Sony’s RAW format, X-OCN has superior reproduction in low-light areas and high-light areas. In VENICE’s 4K 17:9 imager mode, users will have the flexibility to record three X-OCN profiles (XT, ST, LT) and Sony RAW.
